This Tussar Stole is hand painted Sohrai art from using natural dye by the tribal women of Jharkhand. Sohrai Art is said to derived from a paleolithic age word soro, meaning to drive with a stick. One of the oldest art forms of wall painting, this tribal art has continued since 10,000-4,000 BC.
Tussar silk alternatively spelled as tussah, tushar, tassar, tussore, tasar, tussur, tusser and also known as in Sanskrit as kosa silk. India is the second largest producer of tussar silk and the exclusive producer of Indian tussar also known as tropical tussar, is largely tended to by tribal. This is a handloom product and may have slight irregularities that are a natural outcome of the human involvement in the process.
